All schools open for on-campus learning in 2021-22

Crazy times call for innovative solutions! We’re forming a new support group in which parents/guardians of Hudlow Elementary students can join in to a live weekly online Zoom get-together, (or connect anytime via phone text or email) if interested in receiving information and help at home.
We’ll be looking at behavioral interventions and methods to see what is works at home. We’ll explore some written works by experts in the field of effective child discipline, and one of the core goals of this group is to have a space where parents/guardians can talk to each other, and to feel safe and supported while discussing on-going issues, goals, successes and expectations.
The group will be open for everyone starting December 9, 2020.
For more information, contact our school counselor, Carlos Gomez via email (Carlos.Gomez@tusd1.org) or text (480-788-1424).

Hello Tucson Unified families and staff
This is to inform you that yesterday, 11/19/20, the Arizona Department of Health issued an emergency measure which can be viewed with this link requiring district and charter schools to immediately mandate that masks/face coverings are worn on school campuses, on school buses, and during school-associated activities by all students, faculty, staff, contractors, and visitors that are 2 years and older.
Tucson Unified is updating the TUSD Safety Requirements for COVID-19 regulation (EB-R2-T) to reflect the update. Effective immediately, anyone 2 years and older who is present on a Tucson Unified property are required to wear a face covering.

Hudlow Elementary School wishes to offer our congratulations to a very special volunteer, Natalie Mak.
This energetic and talented young woman approached us last year asking about a project that would help our school and students. She was working toward the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in that organization.
Her advisors approved her project, “Encouraging Elementary School-Aged Children to Read More” and she began working with our principal and select staff to determine ways in which she might impact student interest in reading and literacy.
Natalie’s commitment and dedication to the project were amazing, and her efforts will benefit our school for years to come. She researched ways to incentivize reading to build a sustainable reading program, and - by seeking donations - transformed areas within the school library into cozy reading spaces.
Making this project even more challenging than usual, Natalie had to deal with the rise of a pandemic midway through her efforts.
The Girl Scouts will formally recognize her hard work and dedication at the 2021 Young Women of Distinction Ceremony (date not yet set), saying, “May this accomplishment encourage and challenge you to continue on your leadership journey.”
Natalie Mak is an inspiration not only to young women within Girl Scouts, but to all those adults and students who got to know and work with her. Her actions provide a hopeful glimpse into the positive possibilities of generations to come.
We heartily congratulate Natalie Mak on her achievement. We are certain Natalie will be successful in her future endeavors!
Way to go Natalie!
